While your service is free with the Basic plan, all Ooma customers are required to pay monthly taxes and fees. Why? Like other telecommunications companies, Ooma is subject to laws and regulations under the city, county, state, province and federal levels. 

As a result, Ooma charges applicable taxes and fees so that the company can comply with laws and regulations mandated by the government: 

• Regulatory compliance fee
• 911 service fee
• Federal universal service charge (U.S. customers only)
• State or province and local taxes, fees and surcharges
