Optimal placement of the Ooma LTE 460 Adapter

Last Updated: March 2, 2026

When you are deciding where you will place the Ooma LTE 460 Adapter, it is important to keep several things in mind to ensure the best signal quality possible. Here are some dos and don’ts to help you out:

Do

  • Do check our instructional video for tips on finding a spot with good signal strength
  • Do place the adapter on the highest floor possible in your building
  • Do place the adapter in or near a window
  • Do use the app to evaluate signal strength near windows on all sides of the building since line of sight to the nearest network tower will provide the best signal
  • Do use the Ooma Connect app to help you find the location with the best possible signal once the system is online

Don’t

  • Do not place the adapter close to any large, metal objects since metal interferes with the signal
  • Do not place the adapter close to large, solid objects such as objects made of concrete, steel beams, electrical cabling, sheet metal, wire mesh, plumbing, and other similar structures that may be inside your walls
  • Do not place the adapter close to external environmental factors like power lines, electric railway lines, and other objects that may interfere with signal strength
