POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) lines are the old copper telephone lines that have provided residential and business telephone service since 1876. POTS lines are used for more than just voice calls. They also service analog devices like security alarms, fire alarm panels, FAX lines, building and gate entry systems, public safety emergency phones, elevator phones, point-of-sale systems and more.

FAQ’s
You can rip and replace legacy devices, which is typically impractical, difficult and expensive. Or you can get an affordable solution like Ooma AirDial that provides a digital connection that acts like a traditional POTS line to a legacy device. AirDial is a single package solution that combines hardware, a wireless data connection on a nationwide network and phone service. AirDial also meets many regulatory requirements for devices, such as fire alarm panels and elevator phones.
Whether hosting an open house or showing potential tenants around the property, you always need to make sure you’re easily reachable. Real estate is a competitive market, and missing out on a single call can mean losing a potential client or tenant.
Real estate businesses need a business phone service they can take with them anywhere. They also need the ability to easily flip calls from a desk phone to a mobile phone and back.
Most clients have been in a contract prior to switching to Ooma. We have tools to help real estate firms navigate this process. Please call 877-572-8418 to speak with an Ooma phone expert.
We know real estate firms are busy, so we make it easy to get started. Ooma Office works right out of the box, and no one at your office needs any technical knowledge to set it up. Ooma Office is typically up and running in less than 15 minutes. Phones arrive pre-configured, just plug in and start making calls.
To provide a great client experience, real estate firms need a phone system that makes it easy for staff to stay connected to clients, agents, brokers, lenders and title companies. Ooma Office delivers more than 50 business phone features, including a Virtual Receptionist to greet clients after hours or when the receptionist is too busy to pick up. Staff can answer and return calls when they are away from the office with the Ooma Office mobile app—letting clients see the firm’s office number on their caller ID, not a personal mobile phone number. Ooma Continuous Voice™ is a unique, patented technology that provides automatic backup for voice calls running through the Ooma Connect base station. With it, all Ooma Office phone calls are simultaneously transmitted through two links – a primary broadband connection (such as cable, fiber or T1) and the wireless connection provided by Ooma Connect. The Ooma cloud platform constantly monitors both data streams, so if the digital voice data in one stream is disrupted by internet congestion, dropped packets, or latency, Continuous Voice automatically uses voice data from the second stream to avoid degraded audio quality or dropped calls. If one stream goes down, all calls in progress continue uninterrupted through the other stream.
