Ooma: What to do when you need to move to temporary housing

It is too early to review! We are moving to a permanent address in 4 months. We wanted to keep our land line number. We do not have regular internet access in our temporary housing so not using Ooma but pleased to note that people can leave voice mail that I can retrieve on the Ooma home page. Had planned for a long time to switch to Ooma. The move helped us tp over come inertia and act. Glad we did and looking forward to fully usable Ooma once we move to permanent address.

I am happy I went with Ooma. I know it was recommended by Consumer Reports 4 years ago, and I kept putting it off. After getting Ooma, the results have so far been very satisfying. I wish I had eliminated ATT much sooner and I would have really been ahead of the game. Especially happy to not have that monthly ATT bill, and the quality is probably as good as ATT in most cases, and the various features on Ooma are things I never had with ATT because of the extra cost. Easy to set up for an old guy like me who is fearful of setting new technology.

I switched to Ooma because of the promise of low monthly payments as opposed to landline. My landline bill was the same amount for almost 15 years. Oomas supposedly monthly taxes and fees have been increasing almost every month. Do people check their bills any more to see this increase, or don't mind paying since they don't see the bill but have automatic withdrawal?

We only had a home phone because of our old 1980's security system, which only had working door sensors. We switched to Ooma and get both phone and security! Saved over $50/month! Anxiously awaiting the siren module though!

I was tired of being held hostage to the cable companies and putting up with poor service and excessive pricing. The games the cable companies play to jack up your monthly bill is over for me. Had a cable internet broadband connection for $44.99 a month then added phone service. My bill increased $20 a month to $64.99 for the phone service which was discounted from $29.99. After having poor phone service and replacing my router 3 times I dropped the phone service. I received my next months bill and it was still $64.99. Called customer service and was informed that I was getting a discount on my broadband service for bundling and since I cancelled my phone service my broadband was now $64.99 due to the loss of my discount. After arguing for 2 days that I was only paying $44.99 for my broadband before adding phone service and calling a competitor to schedule a change of my broadband service provider I finally got my original agreement for $44.99 honored. I paid the $39.00 charge to have my phone number ported to OOMA and now I own my phone number. In the future if I am unhappy with my broadband provider I can shop the competition between broadband providers without the fear of being held hostage over my phone number. I LOVE OOMA!!!

One Issue, otherwise great

Everything was great until I had to use my Brother Facsimile machine and It will no work on OOMA. I have a few projects every year that is made extremely easier with the facsimile machine. I dial the other FAcsimile, Get the signal, it eventually times out as they do not shake hands.

So far I've been very pleased with the service provided via Ooma for home phone operation. The audio has been clear for me, though I've heard others say that they've noticed audio issues with another user on extended calls. I've thought about adding on some security devices, but see that the basic service only allows 1 device, I don't think I'm interested in paying $10 a month to be able to have more devices attached as I also don't want all of the other functions that come with the premium service.
