Problems Using or Entering DTMF/Touch Tones

Last Updated: March 12, 2026
  1. Table of Contents

When I call my bank the phone doesn’t recognize the buttons I’m pushing.

  • Please check to see if the phone you are using is not set to “Pulse” dialing
  • Next try using another phone if you have one available
  • Try re-entering the numbers slowly
  • Please check the manual for your phone for an option that allows for “long dtmf” tones to be emitted. “Short dtmf” tones may be too short for the Ooma system to detect.
  • If your set up includes splitters, fax machines, caller id boxes, etc., unhook everything from the phone port and hook only a phone to the phone port and retest to see if the issue persists.

When I call into my voicemail from my work phone, Ooma doesn’t recognize the buttons I’m pushing.

Inbound DTMF tones are currently not supported but that feature push is expected soon.
