How to put a call on hold

When a call is placed on hold, you and the caller will no longer be able to hear one another. The caller will hear either silence or Music on Hold, depending on the preferences that the system administrator has configured.

The way that you put a call on hold depends on the type of phone you are using.

Analog phone

Press the Flash button. Pres the Flash button again to resume the call.

Ooma IP phone

Press the Hold softkey to place the call on hold. Press the Resume softkey to retrieve a held call.

If there are multiple calls on hold, press the Line key that corresponds to the call you’d like to take off of hold.

Press the Hold softkey during a call to place a call on hold. Press the Resume softkey to resume the call.

If there are multiple calls on hold, use the up and down navigation buttons to select the desired call and then press the Resume softkey.

Cisco IP phone

Press the hold key during a call to place a call on hold. Press the hold key again to resume the call.

If there are multiple calls, use the up and down buttons to select the desired call and then press the hold key.

Ooma DP1 desk phone

Press the LINE button corresponding to the call you would like to place on hold. The button will light up solid red. Press the same LINE button to resume the call.

Mobile app

Press the pause softkey during a call to place the call on hold. Press the pause softkey again to resume the call.

If you’ve got a single active call, click the Pause icon to place the call on hold.

If you have one active call and one held call, you can toggle between them by clicking the window for the held call and then clicking the Resume icon. The previously-active call will be put on hold.
