Every second is important in an emergency, so it is important to make sure that your information on file is up to date. When Ooma Office is used to dial 911, the following information is sent out:
- The business address or the location to which the extension is registered
- The extension’s specific location within the building
- A 911 alert to one or more designated contacts
With VoIP services like Ooma Office, it is vital that the business address on file with Ooma is correct and each extension’s Location Detail field is accurate. If this information is missing or outdated, your emergency call may be routed to a national service center instead of your local one, costing precious minutes.
Important: Ooma cannot provide 911 service without both power and a working broadband Internet connection. For more information, please check here (or here for Canadian customers).
